Styled To a T: Michael's Tips

Hello from the other half of Toccin—I'm Michael. Usually, Alex gives the styling tips, but for Father's Day, she thought it might be fun for me to share some of my own since I am directing our design team here at Toccin to create all those timeless, chic, and comfortable clothing for you. Good style advice from a dad!

Tip 1: Add a tie-front.

This Father's Day, don't get Dad a tie; gift yourself a Toccin tie front. Our signature tie front is in every collection for a reason. Designed to define your waist, it effortlessly adds polish. It's fashionable and versatile—it's a win-win.

Tip 2: Play with proportions.

Accessories help turn a summer dress from day to night with minimal effort, which is great when traveling and needing to pack light. As a family of four, we always need more space in our suitcases.Think simple dress, major accessory.Take the Cameron (image above) is an excellent midi dress for summer. It has a classic silhouette with a fresh take on seersucker stripes. It is comfortable and chic all day, whether you're going to graduation or wearing a cardigan for work. Pair it with a metallic bag and a strappy sandal, and the dress will instantly be ready for a night out.

Tip 3: One-and-done pieces make everyday dressing chic and effortless.

Sometimes, all you need is one piece to look effortlessly put together. It would be great if you were constantly on the go like us and needed to get out the door. Recently, Alex has been styling a crochet cardigan over her looks— from jeans and a t-shirt to a summer dress. She looks chic and comfortable whether we're at the office or we're going out to dinner.

While a set is technically two pieces, it is a complete outfit that is easy to wear. Check out our Set collection and look for the "pajama" set—a boy shirt and wide-leg pants in stripe-. It's perfect for running errands, a summer BBQ, or drinks with friends.

Tip 4: Invest in a sweater that doubles as a jacket.

Every wardrobe needs one, as it is so functional without compromising personal style or comfort. I encourage you to review our Jacket collection; a must-have tip is the Constance or the Celeste. Wear them with everything from jeans to trousers to a miniskirt. It's a wardrobe workhorse.

Tip 5: Crochet is a summer staple

Crochet is a breathable knit that keeps you cool while adding a super luxe texture to your outfit—wear it more this summer! Dress it up or down with your accessories, and don't forget to pack it for your summer trips. Wear the new crochet fringe set; you'll look summery and chic in your vacation pictures.

Tip 6: Bold color can still be quite luxurious.

Summer is a season to enjoy more levity in your wardrobe, from fabrics to colors. As New Yorkers, Alex and I still wear a lot of black, but summer is the season to play with color. The colors that are trending this summer are Marigold and Blue.Marigold is bold without being aggressive. It's a vibrant, happy color. You'll look chic and feel even more confident in this sunny hue, from a meeting in the office to a cocktail at the end of the day. Blue looks good on everyone. Its ease is visually soothing, not unlike the ocean. This season, we played a lot with nautical stripes to give a twist to the classic ones. I hope my "dad style advice" inspires you to shop for new looks.
